Finally we went back, Team Joyce return after 25 years. It was that long ago where does time go? Our girls were so little we had a truck full of ponies , chooks and performance showjumpers. Today we took 4 young very green showjumpers and old favourite Lil Star. I actually had my heart set on trying to have a go at some showjumping with my Wes.
We arrived late Monday afternoon at 140th Horsham Show
Loading the five horses at home seemed to take forever. It has been many years since we trucked more than three horses. Wes was riding all four and I was concentrating on my Lily. Horsham Show in one word – fabulous. If you have not been lately well you need to come up and enjoy the two days of fun. Andrea Cross is such a kind lovely lady who greeted us on arrival and guided us to our camping spot. So easy to set up with plenty of room for our yards. The best part was good power & water. After 25 years it had improved so much.
So easy to get to straight off the highway
Turning right into McBryde Street straight off the highway and hard right into the Maydale Reserve it is so simple with your floats & trucks. The dogs trials, food wine fest, magician, even the Horsham Pipe Band plus many more public attractions were held last Saturday & Sunday. Tuesday & Wednesday are only horse events. So the surroundings are very calm and serene. No side shows etc. The atmosphere is perfect for your horses and very affordable. You have the option to build yards or book a stable.
It was very nice to unload happy horses after 6 hours of driving
Our horses traveled well, actually our Beast maybe over 30 years old but it was built well. Travelling in the horse area must be comfy. Even LH Queenbee unloaded happy. This was the first time ever loading onto the truck and standing for 6 hours. LH Voltaren, LH Greythorne, LH Velma, LH Queenbee & LH Lily Puss all arrived un marked. Even better they all stood so quietly for another 2 hrs while Wes & I constructed the yards. Not a breathe of noise from them the whole time.
They all woke up fresh and ready to jump
Wes & I both rode over to jump together, then Wes went back on each one after that. LH Voltaren placed 1st in his class. All the others jumped clean with no ribbons. I was a nervous wreck lol – having the first fence down then jumping clean. Lil was supa in the next height as well. Then we ventured over to the HRCAV ring at 1pm. We finished at 5pm. It was an afternoon full of laughter. Wes sat ring side all day which was so nice. We made many new friends ‘ Chantelle & Jo from Portland. Hi to you and thanks for a brilliant afternoon. We also had a lovely time with Vanessa Blunden a long time friend 🙂
So many placings on Lil Star in the HRCAV ring
5th Smartest on Parade – 1st HRCAV Rider – 1st Most Suitable HRCAV Mount – Reserve Champion Most Suitable Mount – 1st Most suitable mount for level – 2nd Pleasure Mount – Ridden HRCAV 3rd , LH Lily Puss & I had an afternoon I shall remember for a very long time. She was so tired at the end and deserved a good feed of Barastoc Complete Performer. Tomorrow we only showjump.
Wednesday morning Wes & I went straight to the showjumping arena
Peggy Mills does a wonderful job. Peggy was course designer & judge. Such a hard worker along with many other people we passed by all saying a friendly hello. Such a nice feeling walking around with a group of happy people making you feel welcome. So today Wes placed 1st LH Velma & 4th LH Greythorne. LH Queenbee had a look at the 60cm as did Lil and I. I felt much better today but lost my way after fence 7b, luckily Wes was there to tell me where to go. It was a power speed with 14 fences. We really did get our monies worth here. I did not manage to get any video of the placing rounds today but I will try at Swan Hill Show.
End of Horsham Show and off to Swan Hill tomorrow talk more then ……bye for now
Thank you to everyone who wished us luck & are following our journey on the Wimmera run your kind words are much appreciated 🙂
